Level 3 Training sessions:
At the conclusion of the Level 2 Training, some trainees will be ready to begin counseling. As previously designed with the church leadership, the lay counselors will be added to the church’s liability policy and the ministry operation will commence. LCI will work with congregational leaders to establish procedures, develop and promote the ministry.
LCI requires supervision of all lay counselors. LCI assists with the identification of the supervisor and the assignment of the lay counselors to supervision groups. The preferred supervisor is a counseling professional, perhaps one who is a member of the congregation. Supervision will consist of a minimum of one-and-a-half hours of supervision in bi-monthly (twice per month) meetings. With ten lay counselors, a church may have its own supervision group; with less, LCI attempts to facilitate sharing or cooperation among various counseling programs.
